So here's my shiny new blog, all empty and waiting to be populated! It's all in black, of course!

I'm about to be made redundant from my job at the end of February, after 8 years with the company. The payoff seems OK so I'm not going to be worrying about cash for a bit. Since I'm being paid for 2 months in lieu of notice, I've decided to take March and April off, then start looking for a new job when I return. In March I'll be learning to drive, since I've never managed to get around to it before. In April I'm going on an 18 day trip to China, including some time spent in the Qinling mountains looking for wild giant pandas!

The plan is to document my China trip here, from start to finish, including all the steps I need to go through before I go. Maybe that will be of use to anyone else travelling. Maybe it will bore everyone to death. Maybe no-one will read it, in which case it won't matter anyway!

After that, who knows... I certainly don't!
